2013 Hong Kong Shandong Week is fruitful

Hong Kong, May 30, 2013 - The "2013 Hong Kong-Shandong Week" came to a successful conclusion today. During the event, Guo Shuqing, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and acting governor, led a delegation from Shandong Province to widely contact people from all walks of life in Hong Kong, through visits, forums, promotion meetings and other forms to promote Shandong, enhance mutual trust and understanding between Hong Kong and Lu, promote strategic cooperation between the two places, signed a number of major cooperation projects, the event achieved fruitful results, and will have a far-reaching impact on the opening up of our province, investment promotion work.

The "2013 Hong Kong Shandong Week" is the fifth consecutive important economic and trade activities organized by the province in Hong Kong. The theme of this Hong Kong Shandong Week is: focus on the service industry cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong to promote the development of urbanization in Shandong, aims to further promote exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong in the service industry, urbanization and other areas, to play to the advantage of both sides, to expand the development space.

Over the past few days, the Shandong delegation held a high-level round table on economic and trade cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong, the Shandong-Hong Kong Foreign Chamber of Commerce and multinational enterprises exchange meeting, respectively, held a seminar on cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong "going global", a seminar on the promotion of public service platform projects between Shandong and Hong Kong, a seminar on international financing for small and medium-sized enterprises in Shandong, a seminar on cooperation in logistics industry between Shandong and Hong Kong, a seminar on brand building and international promotion between Shandong and Hong Kong, and other special activities.

During the Hong Kong-Shandong Week, Guo Shuqing met with the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Leung Chun-ying. Guo thanked Leung and the SAR government for their care and support for Shandong's economic and social development over the years. He said that Hong Kong is a key area for Shandong to carry out international cooperation and an important platform for Shandong to expand its openness to the outside world. In recent years, there have been frequent exchanges between the two sides and economic and trade cooperation has been deepening, entering a period of rapid development. We hope that both sides will pay more attention to the complementary advantages of their industries and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of finance, trade and logistics, professional services and creative design, and continue to develop to a deeper and higher level. Mr Liang warmly welcomed Guo Shuqing to Hong Kong to lead a delegation to carry out economic and trade activities. He said that there is a lot of room for cooperation between Hong Kong and Lu, especially in the areas of logistics and finance. The SAR Government will strongly support Hong Kong enterprises to seek business opportunities and development in Shandong, and hope that more Shandong enterprises will invest in Hong Kong, and Hong Kong will provide better services.

During his visit to the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Guo Shuqing thanked the Liaison Office for its concern and support for Shandong's economic and social development over the years. He said that the results achieved in the cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong could not be achieved without the support and assistance of the Liaison Office, and hoped that the Liaison Office would continue to give attention and guidance in the cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong in the future. Zhang Xiaoming, Director of the Liaison Office, said that the prospects for cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong are very broad, and the Liaison Office will effectively play a good role as a bridge and link to promote further deepening cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong to achieve common development. During his visit to the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, Guo Shuqing said that the Commissioner's Office has done a lot of work over the years to promote cooperation and exchange between Shandong and Hong Kong, and asked for support for Shandong's work as always.  Song Zhe, Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, said he would continue to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong and expand the space.

During his stay in Hong Kong, Guo Shuqing met with Kerry Group's Guo Henian, Hong Kong Trade Development Council President Lam Tin-fook, Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited's Li Ka-shing, Swire Hong Kong's Chairman of the Board of Directors Pak Kee To, Shimao Group's Chairman of the Board of Directors Hui Wing-mau and other political, economic, business and industrial figures, and met with some of the heads of central enterprises in Hong Kong. Guo Shuqing said, Shandong will comprehensively enhance the level of open economy, and actively promote the "blue and yellow" two national strategies, hope that well-known large enterprises actively seize investment opportunities, expand investment in Shandong, bring technology, brand and advanced management experience to Shandong, we will continue to improve the business environment, to provide quality services. The Hong Kong business community showed great enthusiasm for the Shandong delegation's visit and said they would seek greater cooperation with Shandong in finance, infrastructure and town planning and construction on the basis of the existing cooperation, so as to achieve mutual benefits and win-win situation.

When attending the Shandong - International Financial Institutions (Hong Kong) Breakfast, Guo Shuqing said that Hong Kong is an international financial centre and international financing platform, with a highly developed financial industry, high service efficiency and competitive advantages. I hope that friends in the financial industry in Hong Kong pay more attention to Shandong, strengthen cooperation in the financial sector, set up various industrial investment funds and wealth management institutions in Shandong, invest in local financial institutions in Shandong, help Shandong enterprises restructuring, listing, improve the level of corporate management, in various ways to help the development of the real economy of Shandong, to achieve mutual benefit. When attending the breakfast meeting of the CPPCC members in Hong Kong, Guo Shuqing expressed his gratitude to the CPPCC members in Hong Kong for their concern and support for the development of Shandong over the years. He said, the CPPCC members have a wide and important influence in Hong Kong, I hope that the members continue to play their own advantages, and actively contribute to the exchange and cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong. Representatives of CPPCC members in Hong Kong said that they will strive to contribute to the development of Shandong and contribute to the cooperation between Hong Kong and Lu.

During the event, Guo Shuqing attended the signing ceremony of the cooperation projects of the 2013 Hong Kong Shandong Week, the strategic cooperation agreement between Shandong Provincial Government and China Pacific Insurance Group, and the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between Qingdao Municipal Government and Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

This year's Hong Kong-Shandong Week was a great success, with a total of 272 contracted projects signed. The contracted foreign investment amounted to US$22.37 billion, covering modern service industry, strategic emerging industry, modern manufacturing industry, infrastructure, modern agriculture and many other fields.

Hong Kong Shandong Week 2013 attracted a lot of attention from all walks of life in Hong Kong, with Hong Kong Wen Wei Po, Ta Kung Pao and Hong Kong Commercial Daily reporting on the week's activities in a full-page front page respectively. Hong Kong Economic Times, Phoenix Satellite Television, Hong Kong ATV, Sing Pao, China Daily and other media reported on Shandong Week activities in different forms in important pages or time slots.

Provincial leaders Wang Min, Li Qun, Xia Keng and members of the Shandong delegation participated in the relevant activities.
